Good-bye, Dubai
Dubai never really ever made sense to me. It’s always brought to my attention when my mom sends me emails full of images of an indoor ski-hill, a ridiculously expensive hotel, a bunch of islands in the shape of a palm or other insane items. I aspire to visit places on Earth that would inspire me, give me a sense of awe everywhere I look or lets me experience a culture of people and takes me out of my comfort zone. To me places like India, Thailand, New Zealand, Africa and even Russia appeal to me because they’re places steeped in culture and wonder and history. When I think of Dubai I think of some very rich sultan who greedily assembles a ton of properties to try and “compete” with other culture-rich areas of the planet.
I read this article and couldn’t agree more.
Good-bye Dubai.
