A company in Toronto has developed an application called “Fonolo” that essentially has mapped over 300 companies phone lists in the US and Canada.
Say you wanted to order a new service from your cable company. You would find the proper “flow” for the cable company on the website, click on the service you want to order, and the application CALLS the cable company and sends the proper signal to get you through to an agent to take your order. The application calls you when the agent is ready…..Genius right? I think so.

Calgary Economic Development has pitched an idea to the City of Calgary to encourage teleworking – or letting corporate employees work from home. I think this is a great idea and would greatly reduce the amount of traffic heading in and out of the downtown core effectively helping bring down greenhouse gas and smog production.
Since most people have a computer and telephone at home it really makes sense, even for people who work in a team environment. Skype allows people to collaborate globally and there are other tools that are just as useful no matter what type of business you’re in.
The only problem I foresee is my dog bugging me to go play every 10 minutes and forgetting to turn off the video camera when I’m sitting in my boxers participating in our morning production meeting. Other than that I’m all for this campaign.
